    - Sports helps to establish an atmosphere of peace and love between countries.

    RIGHT ( people ) «  people saying that sport creates goodwill between the nations »

    WRONG ( for G.Orwell ) « I’m aways amazed when I hear people saying … »  

    - Sport helps to prevent war.

    RIGHT (  people) « the would have no inclination to meet on the battlefield.

    WRONG ( for G. Orwell )« sport is frankly mimic warfare »

    - International sporting contests tend to make people hate one another.

    RIGHT « that international sporting contests lead to hatred »

    - Even on the village green it is impossible to play for the fun and exercise.

    WRONG « it is possible to play simply for the fun and exercise »

    - When the question of national pride is involved, people turn into wild animals.

    RIGHT « but as soon as the question of prestige arises…. the most combative instincts are aroused »

    - At the international level, nations see success in sport as a national virtue.

    RIGHT « seriously believe …that running, … are tests of national virtue »

    - Serious sport is based on fair play.

    WRONG « Serious sport has nothing to do with fair play »

    - Serious sport is an imitation of war.

    RIGHT « in other words it is war minus the shooting »

    - Most of the games we play today are of recent origin.

    - The games we play today have been taken seriously all through the centuries.

    WRONG « but sport doesn’t seem to have been taken seriously between the Roman times and the nineteenth century »

    - Violence in sport has become like a disease.

    Explications :

    Pour les deux premières il y a deux réponses possibles en fonction du point de vue. L'avis de George Orwell et celui des gens en général ( avec lequel il n'est pas d'accord )
